Holiday Planning & Safety Tips

Are you in the process of planning your office or even your own holiday party? If so, below are some important tips to keep your family, your employees and your friends safe.

Pre-party Planning Tips:

  • Insurance: as your broker, we can work with you to ensure that you are covered. If your homeowners or business liability insurance does not cover these types of events, we can recommend a special event general and liquor liability insurance program.
  • Have designated drivers on hand or prepare a list of local taxi services in your area.
  • Be prepared for overnight guests or have rooms available at a local hotel.

Party Tips:

  • Self-service bars often lead to increased consumption - serve your guests or have a designated bartender on hand.
  • Ensure that there is a variety of food available, however, avoid salty, sweet or greasy foods because they make people more thirsty.
  • Have a variety of non-alcoholic beverages available.

General Tips

  • Candles and fires should not be left unattended.
  • Make sure that your tree is fresh and watered often.
  • Check your smoke detectors.

Here is some additional information on responsible holiday drinking or general holiday safety.

Special event general and/or liquor liability insurance is designed to cover service clubs, alcohol outlets, companies, universities and private social hosts. Contact your broker today to find out about special event liability insurance.
